History

Herman's Farm Market has a rich history that extends far beyond its establishment in 1969. The Herman family's legacy dates back to Gary Herman's great great-grandfather, Adam, who settled in Webster, New York in the mid-1800s. Adam's son, Joseph, was the first official farmer in the Herman family in the United States.

Gary's grandfather, Gustavous, continued the tradition by raising chickens and cultivating a variety of produce, including our now-famous peaches, apples, and cherries. Don Herman, Gary's father, also played a significant role in carrying on the family legacy. Don grew and sold produce to local farm markets, as well as to Gerber's baby food company and a local tomato sauce manufacturer.

Gary's passion for farming began at a young age, when he sold pumpkins from his front yard. Today, Herman's Farm Market remains a family-owned business, providing the finest local fruits, including apples, peaches, cherries, plums, and nectarines, as well as vegetables, produce, and much more to customers throughout the Rochester region.
